When you have hearing loss, social settings can feel overwhelming. You may be apprehensive to meet new people, go to unfamiliar places, or engage with friends and family. Over time, this can lead to social isolation, depression, and even a decline in cognitive abilities.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEARING


A key part in taking care of your mental health is to take care of your hearing. To be proactive, you should:

  • Schedule annual hearing exam if you are over the age of 60.

  • Wear hearing protection whenever you are exposed to loud sounds.

  • Try hearing aids to help you make sense of sounds.
